Morning Prayer-Psalm 139:4

Love to walk as I pray!  Check out where I walked this morning for prayer:

Visiting my daughter in Santa Maria, I woke early, took the opportunity to visit Guadalupe State Beach. If you are into solitude, this is your place.  The pale-colored sand is continually shifting.  Dunes appear and disappear.  The crashing surf is far too violent for sporting while the rounded sand particles massage your feet like some spa treatment.  The Guadalupe Beach is hypnotically beautiful, threateningly dangerous, and somehow totally satisfying.

I breathe deeply, praising God for the wonder of this place, and suddenly feel a unified part of the scene. I am reminded that the Lord found mankind to be the pinnacle of His creation.  My!  Creator God is looking at the few of us scattered on this isolated beach and saying, "Very good!"  

Of course, my natural mind staggers a bit with this.  Then, I come into agreement with Him: "Thank you, Lord, that I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:4)  Powerful prayer to repeat through the day!  Try it out and check out the results.  Changes you, doesn't it?

Renew Your Mind!

Stan over at ZGardener's Blog has a post up about the struggle to remain positive in an essentially negative world.  A great read!

If we are to "put on Christ", if we are to have the mind of Christ, then we cannot be conformed to this world or the thinking of this world.  Estimates are that over 80% of our self-talk is negative.  Kingdom thinking is life-giving, authoritative and confident...no matter how the situation appears.  

So, where would you fall on the negative-positive continuum?

Stan is suggesting that if we had our thoughts amplified to listen to after the fact, we would be royally shocked. I'm certain that's true.

The few times I have suggested to one or another that I was having a difficult time being around their negativity, the response has always been similar.  "What?  I'm not negative!"  "I'm not angry!"

My response has likewise been similar.  "Listen to yourself for a bit."  

Taking the time and making the effort to check your inner workings, your self-talk is always enlightening, just as Stan suggests in his blog post.

Follow the link.  Challenging thoughts, fine writing!  This is a blog worth subscribing to.  Take on the challenges.  They can be life transforming.

Healing Prayer - Start With Scripture - Good Links

Sorry about the missing link in the first post of healing prayer Scriptures!

When I find a good resource, I try to pass it on in the blog or website.  Don't save the links independently. Oops!  So when I went searching for that source (to no avail) I found some other good links to pass on.

Joyce Myer has a download of Scriptures in pdf and microsoft word.  Take your pick.  This Scripture list comes with some of Joyce's wisdom on using them. Learn from a master about using Scripture in healing prayer  Great resource!

Dan and Keiko Downey have a website devoted to God's healing power.  Most of the work appears to be Dan's.  He shares his own journey into a deeper walk with the Lord and resulting healing.  Nothing like experiencing the touch of God's healing promises to light fire under you!  The extent of material available on this website shouts "fire" to me.  Spend a little time on this one.  Check out some of the free mp3's.

A more simple list of healing Scriptures can be useful.  Print it off and keep a copy in the back of your Bible to use when praying for someone.

Actually, I encourage you to print all of these lists with accompanying instructions.  Save in a binder and read through them often.  Make a practice of committing to memory one or two Scriptures a week. Meditate on them.  Let them roll around on the inside of you.  At some point, you will find those Scriptures flowing out of you as you pray for healing.  Notice that you feel confident and much more based in faith in God.

So, be blessed by these resources and please accept them as my apology for the former blooper.

The Power of Words - List of Scriptures

Just found a list of Scriptures dealing with the power of words!  Open Bible has done the work for you already.  Scriptures are fully written out and ready to be saved to a file.  What a time-saver!

Getting a handle on what you think and what you say is such a crucial part of victorious Kingdom living. Reflect on these scriptures and get firmly established in this aspect of "renewing the mind".

If there are legacies to leave to your family and dear ones, this is one of them: 

• a clear understanding of renewing the mind and taming the tongue
• consistent modeling of that behavior
• demonstrated fruit from that behavior

Work on your thinking and your speech for a week and observe the change in your own behavior and the behaviors of those around you.  Pretty dramatic!  It's a journey and well=worth the effort.Another tool to boost the renewing of your mind is the prayer cd, Prayer Affirmations for the Journey. 

• Take much of the effort out of creating positive, faith-filled thought with this scripture-based prayer on cd.  
• Pray with this audio as you work, exercise, commute.
• Use to diffuse the negative info flying through the airwaves these days.
• Experience the change in your life!

Praying the Names of God

As I approached this new year in prayer, I had a deep sense of needing to finish a number of projects started, but now collecting dust. 

Births, deaths, weddings, surgeries, relocating are all a part of the richness of life.  However, they can really suck up time.  Have you noticed?

So now with great excitement, I’ve dusted off the Praying the Names of God project.  It has a great start on the website with an extensive list of Names and accompanying Scriptures. 

Each of the four pages of names begins with Scriptures to motivate you to pursue a study of the Names of God.  Consider this one:

Acts 3:16
 And His name, through faith in His name has made this man strong.

Made strong?  Who isn’t looking for more strength in this day?  If ever we’ve needed to strike spiritual gold, this is it! 

When I first started research on the project, I came across a statement in the Jewish Encyclopedia that explained what I was experiencing.

"the divine name is often spoken of as equivalent to the divine presence or power or glory.”

You will notice, as I have, that as you spend time reflecting on the Names of God that there is a spiritual strength and quickening that comes very quickly.  This quickening does have the feel of Divine Presence.  See for yourself.

I’ll post a bit on this topic in the next couple of weeks and then start a podcast of praying the Names of God.  Podcast?!!  I can hardly believe I’m finally making a commitment to this.  Wow!  It’s a new year.

Healing Prayer - Start With Scripture

 Power prayer of any sort starts with Scripture and God's promises from Scripture.  Healing is no exception. God revealed Himself early on as the Divine Physician who would keep His people disease free if they would only follow His instructions (Exodus 15:22-26).  

In this day of modern medicine and "miracle cures" from science, the promise of God for Divine health seems outrageous.  But God has not changed His mind.  He DOES NOT change.  He still offers divine health to those who follow His commands.

Now to track with the Lord on this issue requires a drastic renewing of the mind according to His word...especialy if you are in pain or have other disconcerting symptoms.  The worse your situation, the more effort you must put into focusing on God's promise and your need to see that promise fulfilled.

God may still use medical science to heal you, but we both know where that healing originates.  I personally know several cancer survivors of many years standing whose doctor announces to his staff that their health is due to their trust in God.  And, this man is not a Christian!

Psalm 91 - Screensavers.

For some time now I have planned to do screensavers to go with No Storm Too Great, the prayer CD set based on Psalm 91.  This project is still on the side burner.

In the meantime, here is a link to some free wallpaper designed around Psalm 91.  The backgrounds appear to be photos taken in Israel.  One photo has the entire Psalm.  Other photos have portions, so you could rotate the photos to get the whole script.

Prayer Scripture

The Acts 17:11 prayer series has an article with splendid examples of praying Scripture.  Drop in there.  Print off the page and work with it  bit.

In How To Pray Scripture I have emphasized the importance of learning to pray Scripture with lots of exposure. Exposure/saturation is the key to quickly and naturally praying Scripture yourself.  (Most of us did not grow up on a diet of this type of praying.)

If this is a new concept, please read Why Pray Scripture and be convinced to at least give it a try.  Your prayer life will be greatly enriched, even transformed.  

You want to pray with confidence and power.  One way is to pray what God is saying.  You find what God is saying in His Word.  The Holy Spirit can lead you to the right Scriptures and you're on the high road to prayer power.

Soldier's Psalm 91 Prayer

Lamppost Publishing offers a wonderfully worded Psalm 91 prayer for anyone in any type of battle. That includes most of us, of course!  The wording is honest, faith-filled, and God-turned.  Hats off to Harriet Yoder who wrote it.

lamppost offers printable versions in various configurations.  With one, you can print a page containing copies that are wallet sized.

Imagine having laminated copies of these to give to friends and family members who are struggling in faith right now.  What a precious opportunity!
